Our Operations manager personally interviews and hires each employee to assure our staff meets the high standards of discipline, dedication, and professionalism that represent UPS. We prefer staffing more mature individuals and try to compensate them fairly for performing their duties.

Comprehensive Hiring and Screening
All UPS officers are thoroughly screened regularly to ensure that their paperwork and licenses are up to date and they are still fit to fulfil their role in our company
Drug Testing
During our orientation process, we drug-test all officers before they are hired. We also randomly test all of our officers throughout the year. UPS performs random background checks for current employees ensuring they do not have any criminal convictions after being hired.
Each of our officers is then thoroughly trained on the procedures they will be following at their specific account. After this initial training, a follow up training is done the next time the officer is scheduled at the account. Each officer is frequently tested on how to handle various situations that might arise at their facility. We also provide and mandate periodic workshops for our management, supervisors and guards to attend, to help further their education in the industry.
Ability to Attract and Retain a Competent Staff
Because of our office’s central location and the fact that we continually run classified ads, we have had a great deal of success in attracting applicants from everywhere in the greater Chicago-land area and suburbs. We advertise on job boards at local colleges/universities and work closely with placement organizations who help find jobs for honorably discharged military personnel.

Uniforms
All UPS staff are required to wear navy blue uniform pants, white or blue uniform shirts with patches, a badge, and a tie. If a guard is at a reception desk, we often suggest a suit for a softer, more professional look. Our officers also have flashlights, rain gear, winter gear, etc….
Safety
UPS works very closely with our insurance carrier to ensure our people are working in a safe environment. We closely follow suggestions from them and educate our security officers through the information they provide to us in the form of workbooks, brochures, safety posters, etc.
